Samajwadi Party’s ST Hasan Criticizes BJP Over Bahraich Violence

In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for its handling of the Bahraich violence. He accused the police of being passive during the incident, which occurred during a Durga idol immersion procession on October 13. The violence led to the death of Ram Gopal Mishra.

Hasan expressed disappointment over the ‘riot politics’ and the destruction of property, claiming the police did not intervene. He described the events as a result of premeditated actions, where a boy attempted to break a flag, leading to anger and a shooting.

Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police Prashant Kumar reported that five individuals were arrested, with two injured during the encounter. The situation is now under control.

On October 18, the Public Works Department issued a demolition notice to Abdul Hameed, one of the accused, for illegal construction. A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to challenge these notices, seeking to halt the demolitions and maintain the current status.
