A clash occurred between two communities during a Durga idol immersion procession in the Mahasi area of Bahraich district, resulting in one death and several injuries. The conflict began when the procession passed through a Muslim area, leading to an argument between the groups.

Police and Government Response

Bahraich Superintendent of Police, Vrinda Shukla, reported that a person from the Hindu community was shot, escalating tensions. Thirty individuals have been detained, and a search for the main suspect is ongoing. Following the incident, police conducted a route march to maintain order.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the situation, emphasizing that those responsible for the unrest will face consequences. He assured safety for all and instructed officials to ensure the timely immersion of idols while maintaining communication with religious organizations.
