Controversy Over Jai Prakash Narayan’s Birth Anniversary
In Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan criticized the BJP government for not allowing party Chief Akhilesh Yadav to visit the Jai Prakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) in Lucknow on the birth anniversary of the freedom fighter. Hasan expressed disappointment, suggesting that the government seemed more inclined to celebrate Nathuram Godse’s birth anniversary instead.

ST Hasan emphasized that every Indian is proud of Jai Prakash Narayan and that the Samajwadi Party has the right to celebrate his birth anniversary. He questioned why the government would prevent such a celebration, stating that Akhilesh Yadav had to honor the freedom fighter by garlanding his statue on a road outside the JPNIC.

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) denied permission, citing safety concerns as JPNIC is an active construction site with scattered materials and potential insect infestations. Despite this, Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of trying to sell the JPNIC and conspiring against the celebration.
