Veteran Samajwadi Party leader and Member of Parliament from Faizabad, Awadhesh Prasad, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The incident, which occurred during a religious event, resulted in the deaths of 121 people and left 35 others injured.

Prasad criticized the administration for their negligence, stating, “The heart-wrenching incident in Hathras is tragic and devastating. This incident shows that the government has not fulfilled its responsibility.” He emphasized the need for a high-level investigation to determine the cause and responsibility for the tragedy.

He also urged the government to provide proper medical facilities to the injured and financial aid to the families of the deceased. “I hope that the government will act swiftly on the incident to save the lives of injured by providing proper medication facilities to them,” Prasad added.

The stampede occurred as devotees rushed to seek blessings from the preacher ‘Bhole Baba’ during a religious congregation. The chaos ensued when security personnel tried to control the crowd, leading to people falling and being trampled.

An FIR has been lodged against the event organizers, including Devprakash Madhukar, referred to as ‘Mukhya Sewadar’. The preacher ‘Bhole Baba’, also known as Suraj Pal, Narayan Sakar Hari, and Jagat Guru Vishwahari, is currently untraceable, and a search operation is underway.
