Samajwadi Party Alleges Bias in Uttar Pradesh Ahead of Assembly Bypolls
The Election Commission has asked for a detailed report from the Chief Electoral Officer of Uttar Pradesh after receiving complaints from the Samajwadi Party. The party claims that there is bias in the posting of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the 29-Kundarki Assembly constituency of Moradabad district and Sisamau Assembly constituency of Kanpur district.
On Wednesday, a Samajwadi Party delegation, including senior Rajya Sabha MPs Ramgopal Yadav and Javed Ali Khan, met with the Election Commission. They alleged that the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh is removing Muslim and Yadav officials from districts where Assembly bypolls are to be held. The delegation handed over a memorandum detailing their concerns.
Earlier, on August 29, Samajwadi Party state president Shyam Lal Pal sent a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer, Uttar Pradesh, complaining about the removal of Muslim BLOs in the Mirzapur by-election area, specifically in the 399-Majhawan Assembly constituency. He demanded an investigation and action against the guilty officers.
The Election Commission has promised to look into these complaints to ensure that all political parties and candidates have equal opportunities in the election process.
