Salman Butt Praises Babar Azam Ahead of Pakistan vs Bangladesh Test Series
Former Pakistan cricketer Salman Butt has praised Babar Azam, highlighting his fitness and impressive performance over the past two years. Babar Azam, a key player for Pakistan, is set to bat at the number four position in the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh.
According to sources, Abdullah Shafiq will continue as an opener, and captain Shan Masood will bat at number three. Butt, speaking on his YouTube channel, emphasized Babar’s consistent run-scoring and fitness, stating, “Babar Azam scored truckloads of runs in the last 2 years, he proved his fitness, he ran on the field, and scored runs while batting first as well as second innings.”
Butt also addressed the criticism faced by the Pakistan cricket team after their poor performance at the T20 World Cup 2024, noting that the entire nation began questioning the team’s fitness. He mentioned that junior-level players were pushed hard for fitness, while those responsible for the errors remained unchanged.
The Test series will begin on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, marking the first assignment for Pakistan’s new Test coach, Jason Gillespie. The second Test will be held from August 30 to September 3 in Karachi, but spectators will not be allowed due to ongoing renovations at Karachi’s National Stadium.
