On a somber Thursday morning, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar visited the Colaba residence of the esteemed industrialist Ratan Tata to pay his last respects. Ratan Tata, who was the Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, passed away at the age of 86 at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

Maharashtra’s Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, announced that Tata’s last rites would be conducted with full state honors. The public can pay their respects at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) in South Mumbai, where his mortal remains will be displayed from 10 am to 4 pm.

On Instagram, Tendulkar expressed his sorrow, stating, “In his life, and demise, Mr. Ratan Tata has moved the nation. I was fortunate to spend time with him, but millions, who have never met him, feel the same grief that I feel today. Such is his impact.” He praised Tata’s love for animals and philanthropy, emphasizing that true progress is achieved by caring for those in need.

Ratan Tata, born on December 28, 1937, in Mumbai, was a pivotal figure in India’s industrial landscape. He led the Tata Group to new heights and was deeply involved in philanthropy through the Ratan Tata Trust and Dorabji Tata Trust. He served as the Chairman of Tata Sons from 1991 until his retirement in 2012 and was honored with the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
