Preeti Pal’s Historic Achievement

Preeti Pal won the bronze medal in the 200m T-35 race on Sunday, making history as the first-ever Indian woman athlete to win two medals in track and field events at the Paralympics or Olympics.

Nishad Kumar’s Silver Medal

Nishad Kumar clinched a silver medal in the men’s high jump – T47 final on early Monday morning with a leap of 2.04 meters, his season-best performance. Nishad also finished second in Tokyo three years ago.

India’s Medal Tally

India has secured a total of seven medals at the ongoing Paris Paralympics, including one gold, two silvers, and four bronze medals. Rubina won a bronze medal in the P2-Women’s 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final, Avani Lekhara struck gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final, and Mona Agarwal bagged bronze in the same event. Manish Narwal earned a silver in the men’s P1 10 m air pistol SH1 competition.

India’s Largest Paralympics Contingent

This year, India has sent its largest Paralympics contingent ever, with 84 athletes across 12 sports. India’s participation in the Paris 2024 Paralympics marks a significant increase in both numbers and medal hopes, aiming to surpass its previous achievements in Tokyo, where India won 19 medals.
