Sachin Pilot Talks About Development and Elections in Jammu and Kashmir
Congress leader Sachin Pilot has raised concerns about the lack of development in Jammu and Kashmir. He stated that people are looking for a government that will meet their expectations. Pilot criticized the BJP for using proxy candidates to divide votes and expressed hope that the INDIA alliance will form the government.
He mentioned that elections are being held after nearly ten years, the first since the abrogation of Article 370. Pilot promised that the INDIA alliance would restore statehood if they come to power. He accused the BJP of shying away from discussing the statehood issue and said people are upset with their decision.
Congress leader Gurdeep Singh Sappal also criticized the BJP, highlighting the rise in unemployment in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. He noted that the unemployment rate has tripled since 2005.
Voting for the assembly seats started at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm. The second and third phases of voting will be held on September 25 and October 1, respectively, with results to be announced on October 8.
