S Jaishankar to Visit UAE and Discuss Important Issues with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will pay an official visit to the UAE on Sunday to meet his UAE counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. They will discuss a wide range of partnership issues.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the visit will provide an opportunity to review the entire spectrum of comprehensive strategic partnerships between India and the UAE, as well as regional and global developments.
Recently, Jaishankar visited Sri Lanka, where he met with Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and reaffirmed India’s support through various development and connectivity projects. This was Jaishankar’s first bilateral visit as External Affairs Minister after his re-appointment.
During his visit to Colombo, Jaishankar also met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and appreciated the progress on various bilateral projects. They jointly unveiled a virtual plaque to mark the formal commissioning of the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, built with a USD 6 million grant from India. They discussed future cooperation in sectors such as power, energy, connectivity, port infrastructure, aviation, digital, health, food security, education, and tourism.
Jaishankar’s visit underscores the importance of Sri Lanka in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ Policy and SAGAR Vision, as stated by the MEA.
