External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday to discuss their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Jaishankar expressed his pleasure in meeting the UAE Foreign Minister and appreciated the deep conversations on regional and global issues.

The India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership began during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UAE in August 2015. In 2022, India and the UAE signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) during a virtual summit between PM Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

During his official visit to the UAE, Jaishankar participated in the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, along with Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Sunjay Sudhir. Jaishankar noted that Yoga, an Indian tradition, has become a universal practice, bringing people together and promoting a healthier, happier planet.

Jaishankar also visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, describing it as a cultural bridge between India and the UAE. The temple, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on February 14, is the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi and symbolizes the friendship between the two countries.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that Jaishankar’s visit aimed to review the entire spectrum of the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the UAE and discuss regional and global developments.
