On Sunday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in New Delhi. Jaishankar expressed confidence that President Dissanayake's discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi would enhance cooperation between the two nations.
President Dissanayake, who arrived in India for a state visit, was welcomed by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan. During his visit from December 15 to December 17, he is scheduled to meet with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi. Dissanayake shared that he had productive discussions with Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on mutual interests.

Earlier in October, Jaishankar and Dissanayake met in Colombo to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.
