S Jaishankar Meets Penny Wong and Antony Blinken in Tokyo to Strengthen Ties

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong in Tokyo. They discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties in areas such as security, trade, and education, and to deepen cooperation across the Indo-Pacific region.

Jaishankar shared on social media, “A great start this morning meeting Australian FM @SenatorWong in Tokyo. Spoke about further steps to intensify our bilateral ties including in security, trade and education. Also discussed deepening our practical cooperation across the Indo-Pacific. Look forward to continuing this at the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting shortly.”

Earlier, Jaishankar also met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting a free, open, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. They discussed upcoming opportunities to strengthen US-India collaboration on shared priorities. Blinken emphasized the importance of achieving a just and enduring peace for Ukraine in line with the UN Charter.

Jaishankar expressed his anticipation for the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, a partnership between Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, aimed at supporting an open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
