In Kazan, Russia, during the 16th BRICS Summit, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono. Jaishankar congratulated Sugiono on his recent appointment and discussed enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Jaishankar also met Malaysian Economy Minister Rafiziramli to discuss follow-up actions from recent meetings between the Indian and Malaysian Prime Ministers, focusing on new and emerging technologies.

The BRICS Summit, hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin, gathered leaders from member countries to address global issues such as multilateralism, terrorism, economic growth, sustainable development, and the concerns of the Global South. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who attended the summit, held bilateral meetings with leaders including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

PM Modi emphasized the importance of BRICS in addressing global challenges like conflicts, climate change, and cyber threats. He noted the summit’s significance amid global uncertainties and welcomed 13 new BRICS partner countries.
