S Jaishankar Meets Foreign Ministers at UNGA 79 in New York

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Alva Baptiste, the Foreign Minister of St Lucia, at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York. Jaishankar called Baptiste his ‘sartorial brother’ and expressed his happiness in meeting him.

Earlier, Jaishankar met with his counterparts from Denmark, UAE, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Singapore. These meetings focused on strengthening bilateral ties with each nation.

Meetings with Foreign Ministers

Jaishankar shared his pleasure in meeting Lars Lokke Rasmussen, the Foreign Minister of Denmark, and appreciated the positive direction of their relationship. They also shared perspectives on the Ukraine conflict.

He also met Maktoum bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, the Foreign Minister of UAE, and discussed their strong ties and global events.

During his meeting with Rasit Meredow, the Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan, Jaishankar discussed expanding relations and extended greetings on Turkmenistan’s national day.

Jaishankar appreciated the progress in bilateral ties with Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, and valued his insights on the region.

He ended his day by meeting Vivian Balakrishnan, the Foreign Minister of Singapore, and had a great conversation.

Jaishankar also met several other delegates and diplomats, including Caspar Veldkamp of the Netherlands, Timco Mucunski of North Macedonia, Kazakhstan Foreign Minister Nurtleu, Morocco Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Belgium Prime Minister Alexander De Croo, and Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis.
