S Jaishankar Highlights Importance of ‘Viksit Maharashtra’ for ‘Viksit Bharat’
As the Maharashtra assembly election approaches, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized the need for a developed Maharashtra to achieve a developed India. Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, he stated, “In the third term of the Modi government, we are working fast towards ‘Viksit Bharat’, and for that, we need ‘Viksit Maharashtra’. Maharashtra has always led in national development.”
Jaishankar also highlighted India’s leadership in counter-terrorism, noting Mumbai’s symbolic role. He mentioned India’s presidency of the UNSC counter-terrorism committee and the historic security council meeting held in Mumbai. “We are leaders in fighting terrorism,” he said, stressing the importance of exposing terrorism.
He praised the Modi government’s handling of border security and regional instability, citing PM Modi’s initiatives in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with results on November 23. In 2019, BJP won 105 seats, Shiv Sena 56, and Congress 44.
