S Jaishankar Discusses Trafficking and Partnerships in Laos

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with the Prime Minister of Laos to address the trafficking of Indian nationals through cyber scam centers. He appreciated the cooperation of the Lao government in rescue efforts. Jaishankar also discussed the issue with the foreign ministers of Cambodia and Thailand.

On the sidelines of ASEAN events in Vientiane, Laos, Jaishankar held meetings with:

  • Cho Tae-yul, Foreign Minister of South Korea, discussing the Special Strategic Partnership and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Josep Borrell Fontelles, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, focusing on trade, clean energy, and advanced technologies.
  • Vivian Balakrishnan, Foreign Minister of Singapore, thanking Singapore for steering ASEAN-India relations.
  • Retno Marsudi, Foreign Minister of Indonesia, congratulating her and appreciating her contributions to India-Indonesia and India-ASEAN relations.
  • Mohamad Haji Hasan, Foreign Minister of Malaysia, discussing bilateral initiatives and regional issues of common interest.
