External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently spoke at the Carnegie Endowment office in Washington, DC, about the importance of mutual respect and boundaries in international diplomacy, especially between democracies. During a discussion with Carnegie’s President Mariano-Florentino Cuellar, Jaishankar addressed comments by US leaders on India’s democracy, stating, “You have every right to comment. But I have every right to comment on your comment.”

He emphasized that foreign interference is a critical concern, stating, “Foreign interference is foreign interference, irrespective of who does it and where it is done.”
