S Jaishankar Congratulates Malta, Belize, and Armenia on Independence Day

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended his felicitations to his counterparts in Malta, Belize, and Armenia on the occasion of their Independence Day.

Wishes to Malta

Jaishankar wished Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ian Borg, saying, “Felicitations to DPM & FM Ian Borg and the Government and people of Malta on their Independence Day. Will continue efforts to further strengthen our friendly relations.”

Greetings to Belize

In a separate post, Jaishankar congratulated Belize’s Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca and called for reaffirmation of their commitment to “advancing South-South cooperation.” He said, “Congratulate FM Francis Fonseca and the government and people of Belize as they celebrate their Independence Day today. Reaffirm our commitment to advancing South-South cooperation.”

Warm Regards to Armenia

Jaishankar also expressed his warm greetings to Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day. He stated, “Warm greetings to FM Ararat Mirzoyan and the people of Armenia on their Independence Day. Look forward to advancing our cooperation.”

India’s Diplomatic Relations

India and Malta enjoy friendly relations, with India being one of the first countries to recognize Malta’s independence in 1964. Diplomatic relations were established in 1965. India and Belize have shared values and mutual regard, establishing diplomatic relations on March 28, 1983. Both countries are strong democracies with common interests. India and Armenia share historical ties, with diplomatic relations established on August 31, 1992. Recent engagements include Armenia’s participation in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 and the signing of an MoU during the India International Science Festival 2023.
