S Jaishankar Celebrates International Day of Yoga in Abu Dhabi

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar participated in the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations in Abu Dhabi. The event was held at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, where Jaishankar and Indian Ambassador to UAE, Sunjay Sudhir, led the celebrations.

In a post on X, Jaishankar shared, “Joined international yoga enthusiasts @LouvreAbuDhabi as we celebrate the #InternationalDayofYoga 2024 in the UAE.”

Before performing Yoga, Jaishankar remarked that Yoga, an Indian tradition, has become a universal practice. He noted, “International Day of Yoga has acted as a motivation, as a magnet, as a method of really gathering people, spreading the practice, actually in a way keeping the planet happier, healthier, more connected.”

This year marked the 10th anniversary of the International Day of Yoga on June 21. The United Nations adopted a resolution proposed by India in December 2014 to celebrate this day annually.

Visit to BAPS Hindu Mandir

During his official visit to the UAE, Jaishankar also visited the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi. He described the temple as a cultural bridge between India and the UAE. In a post on X, he wrote, “Blessed to visit the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi today. A visible symbol of India-UAE friendship, it radiates a positive message to the world and is a true cultural bridge between our two countries.”

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit aimed to review the comprehensive strategic partnerships between India and UAE and discuss regional and global developments.
