Russian President Putin and Iran Embassy Send Condolences to India Over Wayanad Landslides
New Delhi, India – Russian President Vladimir Putin sent heartfelt condolence messages to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu following tragic landslides in Wayanad, Kerala. The landslides, caused by heavy rainfall, have resulted in the loss of over 167 lives and left many injured.
The Russian Embassy in India shared a post on X, quoting President Putin: ‘Kindly accept the most sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the landslides in Kerala. Please convey words of sympathy and support to the near and dear ones of the deceased, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery of all injured.’
Similarly, the Iran Embassy in India extended its deepest sympathies to the families affected by the Wayanad landslides. They posted on X: ‘Our thoughts are with the families who have lost loved ones in this tragic disaster.’
The Kerala Revenue Department reported that 167 people have died, with 96 victims identified, including 77 men, 67 women, and 22 children. The Indian Army has intensified its rescue operations, saving around 1000 people, providing medical aid, and recovering 86 bodies. The Ministry of Defence stated, ‘On the second day of humanitarian aid and disaster relief operations, the Indian Army intensified its efforts to rescue people stranded after multiple devastating landslides struck Wayanad in Kerala on July 30.’
