At least 51 people were killed and more than 200 others injured in a Russian missile attack on a military educational facility in Poltava, central Ukraine. This is one of the deadliest attacks since Moscow’s full-scale invasion began in February 2022.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared on X that two ballistic missiles hit an educational institution and a nearby hospital, partially destroying one of the telecommunications institute’s buildings. He emphasized the need for air defense systems in Ukraine.

The head of the Poltava region military administration, Filip Pronin, announced that rescue crews are still searching through the debris, with up to 18 people possibly trapped. At least 10 residential buildings were also damaged.
