Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov Offers Condolences for Kerala Landslides

New Delhi, July 31: The Russian ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the people of Kerala following the tragic landslides. In a post on X, he said, “My deepest condolences to the Government of India and the people of Kerala in the wake of the devastating landslides. We stand with you in this difficult time and with those affected by this tragedy. May the victims rest in peace and strength be with their families.”

Indian Army Intensifies Rescue Operations

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has ramped up its rescue operations in Kerala’s Wayanad district. Over 1,000 people have been evacuated to safety, and around 70 bodies have been recovered. Four columns from the DSC Centre in Kannur and the 122 TA Battalion are working alongside the NDRF and state rescue teams.

An advance party from the Madras Engineering Group (MEG) and Centre arrived to assess the need for bridge resources. Brigadier Arjun Seagan and his team established a Control Centre to coordinate the rescue efforts. The Engineering Task Force from MEG and Centre arrived with equipment, including a JCB, TATRA, and a 110-foot Bailey Bridge. Additional Bailey Bridges and Search and Rescue Dog Teams are also being deployed.
