The recently concluded BRICS Summit 2024 in Russia was a significant event where Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov, highlighted the bloc’s mission to strengthen the voice of developing countries. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, Alipov clarified that BRICS aims to reform existing international organizations rather than replace them. He emphasized the need for the world to recognize the developing nations as equal partners in addressing global issues.

Alipov also stressed the importance of tackling the root causes of conflicts worldwide, including those in Ukraine, the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Africa. He called for a comprehensive approach to resolving these issues and the implementation of United Nations Security Council decisions.

India-China Relations

The ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the BRICS Summit in Kazan. Alipov noted Russia’s support for stable and positive relations between India and China, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and trust between the two nations.

The BRICS Summit, held in an extended format for the first time, included leaders from 35 countries. The discussions focused on development issues, global governance reform, and enhancing cooperation for the “Global South.”
