Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov Discusses India-China Relations and BRICS Summit
In New Delhi, Russian Ambassador Denis Alipov expressed optimism about the improving relations between India and China. He highlighted the importance of their cooperation for stability in Eurasia. Alipov responded to criticisms from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who called the BRICS summit a failure. Alipov disagreed, highlighting the summit’s success and the creation of a new category of BRICS “partner states.” This allows more countries to engage with BRICS initiatives.
The summit also advanced plans for a BRICS cross-border payment system and expanded currency arrangements. New initiatives in AI regulation, tourism, and MSME development were discussed. Alipov emphasized BRICS’ growing economic strength, contrasting it with the G7.
Alipov criticized recent U.S. sanctions on Russia, warning that similar actions could target other BRICS countries. He stated that BRICS aims for global reform rather than targeting specific nations.
