Russian Ambassador Anatoly Antonov Criticizes US Over Crimea Missile Attack
The Russian Ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, has strongly criticized the United States for its role in a recent missile attack in Crimea. He accused the US of supporting the ‘crimes of the Kyiv regime’ and stated that the attack was carried out purposefully during a time when many people, including women and children, were present.
Antonov said, ‘The administration demonstratively supports the crimes of the Kiev regime. It took the side of international terrorism.’ He added that there is no justification for the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to over 100 others.
The Russian Ministry of Defence reported that the attack was carried out using US-supplied ATACMS missiles equipped with cluster warheads. Antonov further criticized the US for supplying these weapons to Ukraine, stating that it shows a desire to continue the war regardless of human casualties.
He also claimed that American specialists and US intelligence were involved in the attack, and condemned the US foreign policy as ‘pseudo-humane.’ Antonov expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Crimea has been under Russian control since 2014 and has faced sporadic attacks from Ukrainian forces since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. Kyiv has stated that its strikes on Crimea are part of a strategy to isolate the peninsula and hinder Russian military operations on the Ukrainian mainland.
