Rupali Thombare Patil Questions NCP’s Nomination of Rupali Chakankar for Legislative Council
Pune (Maharashtra) [India], September 6: Rupali Thombare Patil, a leader of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and state spokesperson, has raised objections to the possible nomination of Rupali Chakankar as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC). Chakankar currently holds the positions of Maharashtra State President of the NCP Women’s Wing and Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Commission for Women.
Thombare Patil took to Facebook to voice her concerns, questioning the party’s decision to consider Chakankar for the nomination despite her existing roles. She emphasized the need for the party to adhere to the principle of ‘one person, one post’ and demanded equal opportunities for other capable and hard-working women within the NCP.
Meanwhile, several ground-level party workers within the Pune unit have also been voicing their desire to allot one MLC post to current City President Deepak Mankar. They highlighted their loyalty to Ajit Pawar even after the party split and their hard work during the recent Lok Sabha elections, where their candidate won. They believe these efforts should be rewarded by nominating Mankar.
