RTA Completes Al Jamayel Street Development in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finished the Al Jamayel Street Development Project, previously known as Garn Al Sabkha. This project involved building four bridges totaling 2,874 meters, capable of handling 17,600 vehicles per hour. It also included developing seven kilometers of roads, enhancing intersections, and installing street lighting, traffic signals, and drainage systems.

Key Features of the Project

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the RTA, highlighted the importance of Al Jamayel Street as a link between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The street, stretching seven kilometers with four lanes in each direction, serves areas like Jumeirah Lakes Towers and The Gardens, benefiting around 250,000 residents.

Impact on Traffic

The project has significantly reduced travel times. For instance, travel from Al Jamayel Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road towards Al Qusais and Deira now takes 12 minutes instead of 20. Similarly, travel from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Yalayis Street towards Jebel Ali Port has decreased from 21 minutes to 7 minutes.

Bridge Details

The four bridges were opened in phases. The first bridge, 666 meters long, eases traffic from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The second bridge, 601 meters, facilitates eastward traffic. The third bridge, 664 meters, supports southward traffic. The fourth bridge, 943 meters, connects Al Jamayel Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, ensuring smooth traffic flow.

This development is part of RTA’s plan to enhance Dubai’s road network, supporting current and future traffic needs.
