RPF Recovers Contraband Goods Worth Over Rs 1.22 Crore in Assam

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Assam has been busy! From June 1 to 15, 2024, they found contraband goods worth more than Rs 1.22 crore in different places of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway). They also caught 15 people who were trying to smuggle these goods.

But that’s not all! The RPF is also working hard to stop people from selling railway tickets illegally. During the same period, they caught 5 people and found tickets worth over Rs 90,000.

Sabyasachi De, the Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway, shared more details. From January to May 2024, the RPF recovered contraband goods worth more than Rs 16.21 crore and arrested 217 people. They also caught 119 people selling railway tickets illegally and found tickets worth more than Rs 21.98 lakh.

In a recent event on June 13, 2024, the RPF and Government Railway Police (GRP) checked a train at Guwahati railway station. They found 89 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 17.80 lakh and caught two people. These people and the brown sugar were handed over to the police for further action.

On June 9, 2024, the RPF team from Kishanganj and the Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB) team from New Jalpaiguri conducted a raid at the Aluabari Road railway station. They found 21 railway tickets worth around Rs 55,223 and caught one person selling them illegally. A case was registered for further action.
