Gros Islet [St Lucia], June 24: Rohit Sharma played an incredible game, hitting many sixes and leading India to a score of 205/5 in their Super 8 Group 1 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma, the captain, was in great form, hitting 8 sixes and scoring 92 runs off 41 balls. He was supported by Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 31, Shivam Dube with 28, and Hardik Pandya, who remained unbeaten with 27 runs. India hit a total of 15 sixes in the innings.

For Australia, Josh Hazlewood bowled very well, giving away only 10 runs in his 3 overs. However, other bowlers like Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Marcus Stoinis struggled, giving away many runs.

India started strong with Rohit hitting a boundary in the first over. However, Virat Kohli was out early, caught by Tim David off a bouncer from Hazlewood. Rohit then went on to hit 29 runs in one over from Mitchell Starc, reaching his half-century in just 19 balls, the fastest in the tournament so far.

After the powerplay, leg-spinner Adam Zampa was brought in but was hit for many runs by Rohit and Rishabh Pant. Pant was out for 15, caught by Hazlewood. India reached 100 runs in just 8.4 overs.

Rohit was eventually bowled by Starc, missing out on a century. Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya continued to score quickly, helping India reach a total of 205/5.
