Providence [Guyana], June 28: India’s captain Rohit Sharma reached a new milestone by scoring 5,000 runs across all formats as captain during the T20 World Cup semi-final against England at the Providence Stadium.

Rohit Sharma, known as the ‘Hitman,’ delivered an impressive 57-run performance, featuring six fours and two towering sixes. This knock helped India post a total of 171 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Rohit became the fifth Indian captain to achieve this feat, joining the elite club of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Mohammad Azharuddin, and Sourav Ganguly. Virat Kohli leads the chart with 12,883 runs, followed by MS Dhoni with 11,207 runs, Mohammad Azharuddin with 8,095 runs, and Sourav Ganguly with 7,643 runs.

During the match, Adil Rashid broke a crucial 73-run partnership between Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav by dismissing Rohit for 57. Later, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel contributed significantly to India’s total.

Rohit’s second six in the match marked his 50th in T20 World Cups, making him the second player to achieve this milestone after Chris Gayle.
