Rohit Sharma Shines in India’s Victory Over Australia in T20 World Cup 2024

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar praised India skipper Rohit Sharma for his brilliant performance against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit scored 92 runs from 41 balls at a strike rate of 224.39, hitting 7 fours and 8 sixes. He was dismissed by Mitchell Starc in the 12th over, just 8 runs short of a century.

Akhtar expressed his admiration for Rohit’s intent and wished he had scored 150 runs. He noted that India’s determination to defeat Australia was evident in Rohit’s performance.

Australia won the toss and chose to bowl. Rohit’s knock helped India set a target of 205/5. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya also contributed with 31 and 27* runs, respectively. Mitchell Starc and Marcus Stoinis took two wickets each for Australia.

During the run chase, Travis Head scored 76 runs, and Mitchell Marsh added 37 runs, but they couldn’t reach the target. Arshdeep Singh led the Indian bowling attack with three wickets, securing a 24-run victory for India. Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match.
