Following a series loss to New Zealand, where India was defeated by 25 runs in the third Test, Sharma emphasized the need to focus on the BGT series. He highlighted the importance of creating a supportive environment for younger players and keeping strategies simple.

The much-anticipated series will start on November 22 in Perth. India has a strong track record, having won the last four series against Australia, including two victories on Australian soil in 2018-19 and 2020-21. Historically, India has won the BGT 10 times, while Australia has won it five times, with their last victory in India occurring in 2004-05.

The series will feature five Tests, with the second Test in Adelaide from December 6 to 10, played in a day-night format. The third Test will be at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to 18. The Boxing Day Test will take place at Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, and the series will conclude with the fifth Test at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7.
