Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Aim for Comeback at Wankhede

In Mumbai, India’s assistant coach Abhishek Nayar has expressed confidence in cricket stars Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, despite their recent struggles with batting. He urged fans to be patient as both players work to regain their form. Their difficulties were highlighted during India’s 2-0 ODI series loss to Sri Lanka, where they struggled against spin bowling. This challenge has persisted in Tests, as seen in the series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

New Zealand’s historic series win with a 2-0 lead has put the spotlight on Rohit and Kohli, especially for their upcoming matches at Wankhede. Nayar emphasized that both players are putting in significant effort and it’s only a matter of time before they return to form. “Everyone’s working hard, including younger players like Shubman Gill,” Nayar stated at a press conference. He believes that patience is key and soon there will be more to celebrate about these players.

With the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia starting in Perth on November 22, both Rohit and Kohli are eager to improve. In the recent 2-0 victory over Bangladesh, Rohit scored only 42 runs, averaging 10.50, while Kohli managed 99 runs at an average of 33.00. Their form has been a major topic after the Tests against New Zealand, where Rohit scored 62 runs at an average of 15.50, and Kohli accumulated 88 runs, including a notable 70 in Bengaluru. The third Test will begin at Wankhede, Mumbai, on Friday, a venue known for Ajaz Patel’s remarkable 10-wicket haul in an innings.
