Robert Vadra Speaks Out on Trainee Doctor’s Tragic Death in Kolkata
Robert Vadra, a businessman and the husband of Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, expressed his deep concern over the tragic incident involving the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal.
Vadra’s Concerns
Speaking in Hyderabad, Telangana, Vadra said, “I feel very, very troubled about the situation in our country, where women are having a lot of issues. The safety of women is very important. Administrations and other associations do not get justice for women, and they try and hide and cover up cases. That’s really shameful.”
He urged everyone to come above party lines and focus on the safety of women in the country. “Justice must prevail for the family. I’m looking forward to it and I’ll do my best to put pressure and talk about all the issues that are coming about so that justice is given to the family of the deceased,” he added.
Investigation Details
The trainee doctor was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing the case. They have conducted polygraph tests on Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the college, and Sanjay Roy, the arrested accused.
The Supreme Court has ordered the security of the hospital to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) while hearing the case. Additionally, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has suspended the membership of Sandip Ghosh.
