RJD MP Misa Bharti Defends Rahul Gandhi Amid BJP Backlash

New Delhi [India], July 1: Amid the BJP’s backlash on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the Hindu community, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Misa Bharti defended the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. She clarified that Gandhi did not say Hindus spread hate but that the BJP does. Bharti questioned why the BJP is demanding an apology for events from 50 years ago and criticized the Prime Minister for not discussing current issues like Manipur and NEET.

Congress MP KC Venugopal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of using Hindus for election polarization and said that Rahul Gandhi explained ‘who the real Hindus are.’ The Lok Sabha witnessed an uproar over Gandhi’s remarks, with Home Minister Amit Shah demanding an apology. Shah stated that connecting violence with any religion is wrong and that Gandhi should apologize.

Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the gesture of fearlessness, known as Abhayamudra, is a symbol of reassurance and safety in various religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, and Buddhism. He argued that true followers of these religions speak of non-violence and fearlessness, not violence and hatred.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also commented on the issue, stating that democracy and the Constitution have taught him to take the Leader of Opposition seriously.
