RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha Criticizes West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose Over Trainee Doctor’s Tragic Incident

New Delhi [India], August 19: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Manoj Kumar Jha has criticized West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose for his remarks on the tragic incident involving a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The doctor was allegedly raped and murdered on August 9, leading to widespread protests and strikes by the medical community.

Governor Bose accused the Mamata Banerjee government of failing to protect women, stating, “In West Bengal, democracy is degenerating… This cannot go on. Today, we have to take a pledge to protect our daughters or sisters… This society should become a place where women feel happy and secure.” He assured women leaders and doctors that he stands with them in making West Bengal safe for women.

In response, Manoj Jha questioned the Governor’s intentions, saying, “Is this happening in Bengal only? Everyone is agitated at what is happening, but you are the custodian of the Constitution. It is not your first statement.” Jha argued that the Governor’s comments were politically motivated and damaging to the dignity of his position.

The incident has led to increased security measures at RG Kar Medical College, with Kolkata police imposing Section 163 of the BNSS around the hospital for seven days starting from August 18.
