RJD MLA Suday Yadav Demands Compensation for Stampede Victims at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Jehanabad

RJD MLA Kumar Krishna Mohan, also known as Suday Yadav, has held Jehanabad’s Superintendent of Police (SP) and District Magistrate (DM) responsible for a tragic stampede at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Jehanabad, Bihar. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, resulted in the deaths of seven people and injuries to nine others.

Yadav has demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the victims. He stated, “This is a sad incident and the people responsible for this are Jehanabad’s SP and DM. Jehanabad district administration is responsible for this incident. We will meet the injured and the family of the deceased. We will take this issue forward. Compensation should be given. They (administration) have killed people here.”

He further emphasized that Baba Siddhanath Temple is a major tourist destination in the Magadh region and criticized the hurried post-mortem procedures. He also mentioned that the ruling government had not informed the opposition about the incident.

Jehanabad DM Alankrita Pandey confirmed the incident, stating, “At least seven people died and nine were injured in a stampede at Baba Siddhanath Temple in Makhdumpur, Jehanabad district. We are monitoring everything and now the situation is under control.”

SHO Jehanabad, Divakar Kumar Vishwakarma, added, “DM and SP visited the spot and they are taking stock of the situation…A total of seven people have died…We are meeting and inquiring the family members (of the people dead and injured)…We are trying to identify the people (who have died), after this we will send the bodies for post-mortem…”

SDO Jehanabad, Vikas Kumar, expressed his grief over the incident, stating, “All the arrangements were tight, we are taking stock of the situation and then will further inform you about this.”
