RJD Leader Manoj Kumar Jha Criticizes Amit Shah Over Congress-NC Alliance in Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi [India], August 24: RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha has criticized Home Minister Amit Shah for his comments on the Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance in Jammu and Kashmir. Jha stated that Shah is ‘troubled’ by the coalition.

Jha pointed out that the NC was present during the NDA government when BJP was allied with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He also highlighted the recent attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, mentioning the deaths of soldiers and local residents.

On Friday, Amit Shah attacked the Congress party over its alliance with NC for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Shah questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s support for the NC’s manifesto, which calls for abolishing reservations for Dalits, Gujjars, Bakerwals, and Pahadis. Shah emphasized that the Modi government had ended years of discrimination by granting reservations after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.

BJP leader Devendra Rana also criticized the alliance, calling the NC’s manifesto anti-national and stating that the BJP would not allow the alliance to win. He stressed that the reservation policy should remain for Dalits, Gujjars, Paharis, and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

On Thursday, Congress and NC announced a pre-poll alliance, with seat-sharing talks currently underway. The announcement followed a meeting between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, and NC chief Farooq Abdullah. Farooq Abdullah stated that the Congress-NC would contest all 90 seats in the assembly polls, and the formal announcement was made in Srinagar.
