Rising Water Levels in Rishikesh: SDRF Issues Alert for Travellers

Due to heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, the water level of the Ganga river in Rishikesh is continuously rising. The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has issued an alert for travellers, warning them to avoid staying at the ghats at night.

Currently, the situation is normal, and the water police and SDRF teams are alerting all travellers and citizens in the town. Earlier, a viral video falsely claimed the breaking of the NTPC Dam in Chamoli, which was clarified by Anand Swaroop, Additional Chief Executive Officer (Administration) State Disaster Management Authority, as an old video from February 7, 2021.

Meanwhile, the water levels of the Ramganga and Gauri Ganga rivers in the Pithoragarh district are above the danger mark but are showing signs of going down. Uttarakhand Police have also issued an alert for people residing on the banks of the Pindar River due to its rising water level caused by heavy rainfall. Residents are urged to stay alert and report emergencies by dialing 112.
