Rishabh Pant’s Possible Move to Chennai Super Kings After Meeting MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant’s Potential Move to Chennai Super Kings

In a recent development, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina hinted at the possibility of Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant joining the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This speculation arose after Pant met with legendary cricketer MS Dhoni in Delhi. The Indian Premier League (IPL) player retention lists were announced, and MS Dhoni was retained by CSK as an uncapped player for Rs 4 crore, following a new IPL rule.

Rishabh Pant, who has been with Delhi Capitals (DC) for eight seasons since 2016, was released by the team. During his time with DC, Pant played 111 matches, scoring 3,284 runs with a century and 17 fifties. He was the franchise’s leading run-scorer and led the team to the playoffs in 2021. However, DC could not progress beyond the league stages in 2022 and 2024 under his captaincy.

In the last season, Pant scored 446 runs in 13 matches, with an average of over 40 and a strike rate above 155. Despite being the top run-getter for DC, the team finished sixth, missing the playoffs. DC has retained players like Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, former cricketers Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao have joined DC’s coaching staff, and Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as the director of cricket.
