Australian fast bowler Riley Meredith is set to make a comeback to Somerset for the upcoming Vitality Blast tournament next year. Meredith, who is 28 years old, may also participate in the County Championship and One-Day Cup, depending on the competition’s structure.

During his previous stint with Somerset, Meredith took 14 wickets at an average of 21.33, with his best performance being 4/27 in the Blast. His efforts helped Somerset reach the Finals Day, although he missed the knockout stage due to national duties with Australia. In the One-Day Cup, he dismissed six players in three matches.

Meredith expressed his excitement about returning to Somerset, stating, “I really enjoyed my time with Somerset this year, and I’m looking forward to coming back to England next summer. We played some good cricket, and it was nice to be able to play a part in some good wins. Hopefully, we can go on to lift some silverware in 2025.”

Andy Hurry, Somerset’s director of cricket, praised Meredith’s performance and integration into the team. “We were all extremely impressed with how Riley performed on the field and by how he seamlessly fitted into the group,” Hurry said. “He showed that he is a world-class performer, and he brought something a little different to our already outstanding attack. He bowled with genuine pace and aggression and will once again be a valuable addition to our squad next summer,” he added.

Meredith’s last appearance for Australia was against Scotland in the 1st T20I, where he took a wicket and conceded 34 runs in his four-over spell.
