Rescue Operations in Rudraprayag: 9099 People Saved from Kedarnath Route
In Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, dog squads led by District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO) Nandan Singh Rajawar began search operations from Rambara to Bhimbali on Monday. Additionally, under the supervision of security forces, 100 people were airlifted from Kedarnath Dham to Shersi helipad.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been continuously searching the forests around the Mandakini River to find trapped people. The Rudraprayag District Administration confirmed that rescue and search operations on the Shri Kedarnath Dham Yatra route continued for the fifth day.
According to officials, no person was found during search operations from Lincholi to Rambada until Sunday evening. Earlier, on August 3, Uttarakhand Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman reported that 9099 people stranded along the Kedarnath Yatra route had been rescued. Heavy rains on July 31 caused the stranding of passengers, and rescue operations have been ongoing since then.
On Monday, as the weather cleared in Kedar Valley, airlift rescue operations began with MI 17 and Chinook helicopters. MI 17 helicopters are landing passengers at Chardham helipad, while Chinook helicopters are landing passengers at Gauchar airstrip. By Monday morning, 133 people had been safely airlifted and rescued from Kedarnath.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is personally monitoring the rescue operations. Vinod Kumar Suman informed that on August 3, 43 passengers were airlifted from Kedarnath, and a total of 495 passengers were airlifted from Linchauli and Bhimbali. Additionally, 90 passengers reached Chaumasi-Kalimath safely on foot from Bhimbali-Linchauli.
