Rescue Operations in Kedarnath: Thousands of Pilgrims and Locals Saved
In Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, heavy rains have caused significant damage to roads, leaving many pilgrims and local residents stranded in Kedar Valley. The District Administration, along with various security forces, is working tirelessly to rescue those affected.
Under the direction of the District Magistrate, efforts are being made to provide food and water to those stranded. So far, 18,000 food packets and 35,000 water bottles have been distributed at key locations including Kedarnath, Lincholi, Bhimbali, Sonprayag, Shersi, Guptkashi, and Chaamasi.
District Supply Officer KS Kohli mentioned that food and water are being arranged continuously for the stranded devotees. Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vimal Gusain reported that medical facilities have been provided to 286 people in Sonprayag, Gaurikund, and Shersi.
Rescue operations have successfully airlifted 582 people using helicopter services, and more than 1,500 individuals have been rescued manually between Sonprayag and Gaurikund. The efforts to ensure everyone’s safety are ongoing.
