Rescue Operation in Morbi: 17 Drowned, 7 Missing After Tractor Accident

A search and rescue operation is underway in Morbi, Gujarat, after a tragic accident on Sunday night. A tractor’s trolley overturned while crossing a flooded causeway near Dhavana village, leading to 17 people drowning and 7 still missing.

Rescue Efforts

Morbi Collector KB Jhaveri stated that 10 people have been rescued so far. He explained that heavy rains in Surendranagar district caused a lot of water to flow from the causeway, which led to the accident. The State Disaster Relief Force has been called in to assist with the rescue operation.

Government Response

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has spoken with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, assuring them of any assistance needed from the central government. A review meeting was also held at the State Emergency Operation Center to address the heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions in Gujarat.
