Rescue Operation for MV Prestige Falcon: 9 Crew Members Found Alive, 1 Deceased
Muscat, Oman – On July 15, the oil tanker Prestige Falcon capsized off the coast of Oman. Nine crew members have been found alive, while one was found dead, according to the Maritime Security Centre of Oman. The search for the remaining crew members is ongoing.
The vessel had a total of 16 crew members, including 13 Indians and three Sri Lankans. The Indian Navy, with the warship INS Teg, rescued nine crew members, including eight Indians and one Sri Lankan. The rescue operations are being conducted in rough seas and strong winds.
The Indian Navy’s Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft P8I is also assisting in the search. The Indian Embassy in Oman is in constant touch with Omani authorities to coordinate the rescue efforts.
