Rescue Efforts in Navsari, Gujarat Amid Heavy Rains

Navsari district in Gujarat is experiencing severe waterlogging due to torrential rains. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been evacuating people from the flooded areas. So far, 30 people, including a child and an ailing woman, have been rescued from Mithila Nagari.

DR Patel, Probationary Deputy SP of Navsari Town Police, stated, “We had received information that around four people are marooned in Mithila Nagri. Together with the NDRF team, we went there to rescue them. One entire floor was submerged there. We rescued them later.”

Navsari Municipality has prepared 40,000 food packets for those affected by the floods. Meenal Desai, the chief of Navsari Municipality, said, “Since morning, we have been preparing food packets. In the morning, we prepared 20,000 food packets and now also 20,000 food packets are being prepared. These packets will be sent to the flood-affected areas.”

District Collector Kshipra S Agre inspected shelter homes set up for the rain-affected people. She said, “110 people have been rescued and shifted to shelter houses here. The Municipal Corporation, Police, and Administration are working together and urging people to shift to shelter homes as a precaution.”

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel visited flood-affected areas in the Borsas area of Anand district. He mentioned that efforts are being made to prevent water-borne diseases. Heavy rains have caused eight deaths, raising the toll to 61.

Earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted an aerial survey of villages in the coastal districts of Saurashtra, especially Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka, to assess the situation caused by heavy rains.
