Chief Minister Dhami Conducts Aerial Survey

Rescue operations from the Kedarnath footpath are ongoing for the sixth day amidst challenging conditions. Many pilgrims and tourists are stranded on the Sonprayag-Kedarnath road due to heavy rains.

According to the Rudraprayag district administration, about 150 locals have been moved from Kedarnath to Bhimbali under the supervision of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Additionally, 161 people are being relocated from Jangalchatti to Chirbasa.

The completion of a footbridge over the Mandakini River in Sonprayag has significantly aided rescue and relief operations. However, poor weather conditions have hindered helicopter rescue efforts.

Efforts to restore roads and footpaths are underway, with construction supervised by the Public Works Department (PWD). Work has also started on damaged routes between National Highway Sonprayag and Gaurikund.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami left Dehradun to conduct an aerial survey and ground inspection of the affected areas. He will also meet with local representatives and disaster-affected individuals in Rampur, Rudraprayag.

Rescue and search operations continue in landslide-affected regions of Sonprayag. According to the Uttarakhand Secretary of Disaster Management, 17 people have died so far. On Monday, the Indian Air Force airlifted 201 people to safety, including 17 NDRF personnel from the Kedarnath Valley. Approximately 2000 kg of relief material has been supplied to critical areas.
