Sharda Sinha, a renowned folk singer known as the ‘Bihar Kokila,’ passed away at the age of 72. She died on the first day of Chhath Puja due to refractory shock caused by septicaemia, a type of blood poisoning. Sinha had been battling multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer, since 2018. Her son, Anshuman Sinha, expressed deep sorrow, stating that she will always remain in the hearts of her loved ones.

Family and Friends Mourn

Anshuman Sinha shared that her last rites will be held in Patna, Bihar, at the same place as her father’s. BJP leader and singer Manoj Tiwari, who considered her a sister, expressed his grief, calling her demise an irreparable loss. He mentioned that Prime Minister Modi also expressed his sorrow and that her last rites will be conducted with honors.

A Cultural Icon

Sharda Sinha was celebrated for her contributions to Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Hindi folk music. Her songs, especially those for Chhath Puja, are cherished by many. BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and MP Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted her impact on the music industry and culture, describing her as a gem and a cultural ambassador of Bihar.
