Reasi Bandh: Protests and Arrests After Temple Vandalization in Jammu and Kashmir

In Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, various social organizations called for a bandh after a temple in the Dharmadi area was vandalized. On Monday morning, visuals from the Reasi bus stand showed people burning tyres and protesting on the streets.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police detained 12 suspects in connection with the incident. An FIR was registered under section 295 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The police conducted a series of raids, apprehending three suspects during the night and nine more during the day.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Mohita Sharma, formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to handle the case. SSP Sharma shared that 12 suspects have been detained for questioning, and further investigation is ongoing. She appealed to the people of Reasi to remain calm and maintain peace and communal harmony.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Iftekhar stated that anti-social elements trying to disturb Hindu-Muslim brotherhood would be caught. He mentioned that the police are working diligently to identify and punish the culprits to ensure peace is maintained.
